Charging the Battery Pack

You can charge the Ni-MH Rechargeable Battery Pack in the recorder using the cradle in combination with the USB cable or AC Adapter.  Or by directly connecting the AC Adapter or USB cable to the recorder.

NOTE:  The Battery pack needs to be fully charged before the first use.  The full charge time is approximately 3 hours.

Any of the below methods can be used to charge the battery pack in your Olympus-5000 digital voice recorder.

Charging using the Cradle

The Ni-MH Rechargeable Battery Pack in the recorder can be charged by connecting the AC Adapter or USB cable to the cradle with the recorder set in it.

METHOD 1: Charging using Cradle & AC Adapter

Connect the AC Adapter to the cradle.  When using the AC Adapter for charging, connect the power plug to the cradle AC connector.

Firmly press the recorder all the way into the cradle.  The CHARGE indicator light glows red when the device is charging.  The light will go out when the charging is complete.

METHOD 2: Charging using Cradle & USB Cable

Connect the USB cable to the cradle.

Turn the recorder OFF.  The CHARGE indicator light glows red when the device is charging.  The light will go out when the charging is complete.

NOTE: When the recorder is connected to a USB cable while its power is off, only charging will be performed.  The computer will not recognize it as a drive.

Directly Charging Through the Recorder

The Ni-MH Rechargeable Battery Pack in the recorder can be charged by connecting an AC adapter or USB cable to the recorder.

METHOD 3: Charging using AC Adapter (without the cradle)

Connect the AC Adapter directly to the power jack on the recorder.

METHOD 4: Charging using the USB cable (without the cradle)

Connect the USB cord directly to the USB jack on the recorder.

Turn the recorder OFF.  The CHARGE indicator light glows red when the device is charging.  The light will go out when the charging is complete.

NOTE: When the recorder is connected to a USB cable while its power is off, only charging will be performed.  The computer will not recognize it as a drive.
