The Olympus DirectRec II USB Microphone recently received a major firmware update addressing several known issues with the device. The firmware update is so significant that is warranted a total re-branding of the microphone. That’s right, Firmware v1.10 will turn your DirectRec II into a RecMic.
The highlight of Firmware v1.10 is the fact it inducts the Olympus DirectRec II & RecMic series into the Dragon Medical Practice Edition & Dragon NaturallySpeaking 6 Dragons Club, the highest compatibility rating offered by Nuance Communications, Inc. In addition to the microphone improvements, users will now be able to use a new Click Lock feature as well as further customize mouse functionality.
Our friends at Olympus provided us with an Alpha copy of the firmware for our team to evaluate. After applying and putting it through the ringer, we are very impressed with the improvements offered in Firmware v1.10. Testing revealed noticeable improvements with speech recognition integration and stability when used with the Olympus Dictation Management System Release 6.2.
We strongly encourage all current Olympus DirectRec II users to apply this firmware immediately. The firmware can be found in the CertifiedeSupport Resource Center, on the eDist FTP site and within the Olympus Pro Portal. Please contact your Certified Olympus Dealer today for more details.
