This guide will walk you through the process of importing and exporting macros also known as custom commands in Dragon Naturally Speaking v11.  DNS v11 allows you to share macros with other users by exporting them to a file and then having the user import that file.  Illustrated screen shots have been included for your convenience.

STEP 1:  Exporting Macros

1.  On the DragonBar, go to [Tools] >[Command Browser].

2.  Once open, select the [Manage] mode

    3. Select the current group that contains the macros that you want to export.
4. Click on the plus sign (+) to expand the list if needed to find the command(s) you want to export.

5. Select the commands that you wish to export, a check mark appears in it.

6. Click the [Export] icon on the left toolbar.  A window will appear asking where you’d like to export these commands to.

7. Choose a location, then name this set of macros and then click [Save].  This will save the macros as a .DAT file on your PC.

STEP 2: Importing Macros

1. On the DragonBar, go to [Tools] >[Command Browser]

2.  Once open, select the [Manage] mode

3. Select [Import]

4. An Import Commands window will open, navigate to where your macros are, highlight them and then select [Open].

NOTE:  You can tell by the name & file ext., which files are macros.  Dragon exports macros as .DAT files.

5. Another Import Commands window will appear, this window will open the list of macros that you are trying to import.  This window will allow you to choose which commands you wish to import.  Select the commands you wish to import and then click [Import].

After importing a voice command file, you can use all the custom-voice commands it contains in addition to any custom commands that were already in your voice command file.  You can also edit commands that are contained in the imported file.

Congratulations, you’re done!
